Unicorn Considers the Raid Unjustified and Purpose-Driven

Unicorn a.s. strongly objects to the procedure employed by the Police of the Czech Republic during Tuesday’s intervention. The stated purpose of the operation was the alleged securing of accounting records of companies whose ultimate owner is Vladimír Kovář. Although the investigation was initially presented as independent from the large-scale fraud case involving Břetislav Janoušek, the search warrant delivered during the raid indicates that the conduct of law enforcement authorities bears the hallmarks of a so-called “fishing expedition,” namely the search for information without specific suspicion or evidence.

No computing equipment was seized during the intervention, and the police did not remove any records that had not previously been requested and voluntarily provided. Therefore, the intervention has had no effect on the company’s day-to-day operations or on the delivery of projects and services to clients.

The measures were directed against entities that have no connection to the Břetislav Janoušek fraud case, except for the fact that Mammoth companies had, in the past, either provided services to them or purchased goods from them.

The timing of the intervention raises serious questions. The police proceeded with the operation three years after the case emerged and at a stage when criminal proceedings directly against Břetislav Janoušek are already well advanced.

Unicorn is preparing all available legal measures against the involved parties. The company considers the described procedure to be an unacceptable form of competitive pressure and a disproportionate intervention by police authorities.
