Statement of ComAp Representative
"In cooperation with Unicorn Systems, we managed to implement a practical solution for project management. It allows to decompose the process of project deliveries in a transparent way, both from the functional and process decomposition and from the project decomposition (capacity planning). The proposed solution enables cooperation across several independent teams. Thanks to the chosen platform and emphasis on the use of the maximum native JIRA functionalities, the adaptation of the final solution within the company was successful and in a relatively short time. The solution was designed in a way where integration flow connect all key information systems that enter the process of R&D project development. We not only managed to automate part of this process, but we also achieved an increase in the quality of data which are used for the high-level managerial decision making process."

Our Solution
Based on the client's good experience so far from the point of view of the user interface, the Atlassian Jira tool was chosen for the implementation of the solution, which was already widely used. The customer thus makes maximum use of the potential of the tool with the help of standard Jira functionalities, thanks to which it was not necessary to leave the user habits and knowledge of using the tool.
Among other things, this project enabled the introduction of a new approach, respectively request hierarchy (using the Sturcture plugin). This allows PPM to be visualized in a suitable way, allowing users to effectively manage the layout (tree) of the PPM structure in all its views.
Other customizations were made by using of "groovy scripting" on the Adaptivist Script Runner platform, the manufacturer of which guarantees compatibility in later versions of the Jira system. Another advantage of this approach is the shorter time-to-market for changes and fixes than with custom plugins.
The implementation of the PPM solution took place in close cooperation with representatives of ComAp and Unicorn Systems. As part of the solution, it was necessary to face several challenges with regard to the necessary integration into the surrounding systems. Despite these pitfalls and thanks to excellent cooperation, the solution was successfully delivered and put into operation.
