How We Helped E Zilly Upgrade their Jira System
Technological Upgrade
Atlassian has announced that from 2024 he will no longer support the Server version systems. Companies that use these tools must migrate to the Cloud or Data Center version. One of many such companies is E Zilly, which was in danger of running on an unsupported system and therefore needed a technology upgrade.
The end of support means that Atlassian will stop releasing new updates and fixing bugs and security gaps. In addition, without support, E Zilly would lose the ability to expand its system. In fact, extension authors rarely update their plugins for an unsupported system version.
E Zilly is part of the M7 Group, which provides satellite TV services in several European countries. The company has been using Jira and Jira Service Management tools in the Server version, that will lose official Atlassian support by early 2024. The client therefore turned to us as a certified Atlassian partner because he decided to keep the system on an on-premise infrastructure and migrate to Jira Data Center.
Jira Data Center
For E Zilly, we converted the system from Server to Data Center. For better load distribution and system maintenance, we created two application servers on which Jira runs. This allows the company to operate in a non-stop mode. We also migrated the existing database to PostgreSQL and added a so-called Load Balancer to efficiently distribute the load among the application servers.
As part of the software upgrade, we installed a new system and migrated all the data. To make the new system work the same as before the migration, we modified scripts and plugins - both from the Atlassian Marketplace and custom-built extensions. Our delivery also included maintenance and technical support for the new system.
Security, Support and Better Performance
Our delivery brought E Zilly not only better performance but, above all a necessary technological upgrade, without which the company would not have been able to expand its system further. Jira Data Center is a more secure, powerful and easily expandable system. This allows E Zilly to use a tool that Atlassian supports and updates regularly.
In addition, Jira Data Center also has new features that Jira Server does not offer. One of them is the data anonymization option, which makes personal data anonymous when an employee leaves the company. Another new feature is request archiving, which makes it possible to archive old tickets that take up space in the system and slow it down.
