What are the steps when purchasing a license?

The license purchase process involves several steps:

  1. If you are already using Atlassian tools, we will need your SEN, entitlement number, and the email of the technical contact listed for your licenses.
  2. It’s advisable to consider whether you are purchasing a one-year or two-year license. If you are buying cloud licenses, we recommend evaluating the tier and plan options.
  3. Once we have all the necessary information, we will prepare a quote for you. This quote is non-binding but has a validity period.
  4. The next step is the license order process.
  5. After the order, the invoicing process follows. We accept payments in USD, EUR, and CZK.
  6. Your licenses will be renewed, and the license keys will be sent by Atlassian to the email listed for the technical contact.

For a detailed description of the entire process, please refer to our article.

What plug-in for the Jira licenses do you recommend?

On the Atlassian Marketplace, there are hundreds of plugins (add-ons) available for Jira and other Atlassian products, which expand their functionalities. When selecting the right plugin, it’s essential to analyze whether it meets your requirements, is compatible with your Jira instance (Cloud, Data Center), is supported, and has good user ratings.

Based on our experience, we often recommend the following trusted plugins to clients:

  • ScriptRunner for Jira: A trusted and frequently recommended application for automations and adapting Jira to specific needs. It enables the creation of scripts, scripted fields, advanced search functions, and the customization of workflows with scripted conditions, validators, and post-functions.
  • Structure by Tempo - Jira Portfolio Management (PPM): This allows you to create custom structures to visualize and decompose issues in projects, display real data, and create custom project views.
  • Time to SLA: This add-on is our recommended solution for SLA tracking. It allows you to define SLAs, set their start and end based on statuses, custom date fields, or comments. With Time to SLA, you can also monitor SLAs via custom fields, set up different calendars, track SLAs, use JQL functions, and more.
  • Rich Filters for Jira Dashboards: A popular add-on for creating clear and interactive reports. Within the report, you can quickly filter issues based on your preferred criteria, create charts, and summary tables.

Each of these tools enhances Jira’s functionality and helps teams work more efficiently by tailoring views, automations, and reports to meet their needs.

How are plug-ins licensed?
The price of a license for plug-ins depends on the number of users of the selected Atlassian product. For example, the price of Jira Cloud add-ons is based on the maximum number of users of the Jira product. In the case of Jira Software for 50 users and Jira Service Management for 10 agents, the price for an add-on will be set to 50 users. Similarly, it applies to Data Center where the number of licenses for add-on corresponds to the maximum number of licenses for Jira in the given instance.

Is there a trial option for Atlassian products?

Yes, Atlassian products can be tested for free in advance.

For Cloud instances, you can start with the "Free" plan, which is available indefinitely. Although it has certain limitations, such as user count, permission settings, storage, and more, it’s sufficient for basic functionality testing. For a full trial of all features, there is a trial license available for paid plans (Standard, Premium), but it’s limited to 7 days.

For Data Center instances, a 30-day free trial is available to test Atlassian products on your own hardware.

What about Data Residency in Cloud?

In Atlassian Cloud, you have the option to set Data Residency in the Enterprise, Premium, and Standard plans. Data Residency gives you control over where your data from products like Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, and Confluence is stored. It allows you to choose whether the data will be distributed globally or kept in a specific geographic location, such as Europe, the USA, or Australia.

If you work in a regulated industry, such as finance, government, or healthcare, data residency may be essential for operating in a cloud environment.

Is it possible to try Atlassian Cloud before migration?

Yes, one option is to use the Free plan for Atlassian Cloud to explore the differences between on-premise and cloud instances on a basic level.

Atlassian also offers customers considering migration to the Cloud up to a 12-month free trial for Standard, Premium, or Enterprise plans. The exact trial duration depends on the remaining months of maintenance for the Data Center product. Even after maintenance expires, you have an additional 60 days to test the migration to the Cloud for free. The benefit is that you get a fully functional plan in the cloud instance without the limitations that come with the Free plan.
